Korkut Ata Türkiyat Araştırmaları Dergisi

Abstract

Mecmuas, which are the most important types of works of classical Turkish literature along with divans and mesnevis, consist of mensur or manzum pieces in various shapes and volumes. These works are very important in terms of revealing the poems of forgotten poets or unknown poems of known poets (or poems or works that are not found in their divans), which are not mentioned in tezkires or biographical sources. The work that constitutes the subject of our study is the Mecmu’a-i Eş’ar, registered at the Topkapı Palace Museum Library under the number “Treasury 1064”. According to mecmuas record of foundation, the work was arranged by Sayyid Ibrahim in 1205/1790-91. In the mecmua, which consists of 110 sheets in total; there are 312 poems of 45 poets, including 184 ghazals, 6 kaside, 14 kıt’a, 8 mesnevi, 2 terkib-i bend, 2 tahmis, 2 müseddes, 1 müsemmen, 6 ruba’i and couplets. However, it is seen that many fevâ’id and letters are also included in the mecmua. In this study, first of all, information about the mecmuas was given, then the introduction of the Mecmu’a-i Eş’ar by focusing on its form and content features. The poets in the mecmua and their verse forms, the poems of the known poets that are not found in the existing divan copies are shown in tables.
