Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the practice process of the piano piece titled Yörük Ali, included in İstemihan Taviloğlu’s album “For Youth I” in terms of its formal, melodic, rhythmic, and technical dimensions, and to develop pedagogical implications that can guide the performance process by revealing the formal structure of the piece. The research was designed within the framework of a qualitative research approach and conducted based on the document analysis method. The formal structure, phrase organization, melodic flow, rhythmic structure, and technical requirements of the piece were analyzed in detail based on the written musical score. As a result of the formal analysis, it was determined that the piece was written in "One-Part Song" form and has a symmetrical phrase structure. Four practice phrases were identified for the performance process, and practice strategies such as playing broken chords in block chord form, handling polyphonic progressions as multi-voice clusters, and octave consolidation techniques were suggested. The research presents an applicable analytical model regarding how the practice processes of piano pieces derived from Turkish folk music can be structured.
