Ahmet Hâşim’in Sanata Dair Nesirlerine Yansıyan Fikirler

Abstract

Ahmet Hâşim, born in 1885, is one of the founding poets of modern Turkish literature and a good prose writer. His prose was loved and admired as much as his poetry. Many writers and literary researchers of the Republican Era wrote articles praising Ahmet Hâşim’s prose. Even though this is the case, Ahmet Hâşim’s prose can still be re-evaluated with deep readings today, with the aesthetic power they carry, the richness of content that can be categorized on different subjects, and the foresights that transcend their time. Because despite their narrow shape, these have a rich content and have not lost any of their value in terms of their subject. After all, it is a known fact that writings that survive the time they were written have a special value. These articles are separated under subheadings such as “social life”, “nature”, “East-West comparison”, “animals”, “travel”, “culture / art / civilization”, “language issues”, “femininity and masculinity” can be considered separately. Due to the scope of this study, Ahmet Hâşim’s ideas about art in general are evaluated here, based on the texts that reflect his perception of art. In this context, his views on the function of art and the duty of the artist were also discussed. Thus, it has been tried to demonstrate that the texts in which he generally reveals his aesthetic perception about many genre of art during the transition to Western civilization have a special value in terms of art history.
