Biyografik Vefeyât-nâme Ravzâtü’l-muflihûn’da Müellif Gazzî-zâde Abdüllatîf Efendi’nin Biyografisinin İzini Sürmek

Abstract

Vefeyât-nâmes, which we can consider as a type of tezkire tradition, are one of the genres that are included in the scope of biographical genres in our old literature and are extremely important in terms of literary history. Vefeyât-nâmes are works that we can call a kind of city monographs, which show the characteristics of the city as well as having biographical features. The richest examples of the Vefeyât-nâmes, which is of great importance in terms of science, culture and art history, are given in the name of the city of Bursa. We see the privilege of Bursa in terms of being the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and the first center of the history of Ottoman mysticism, both in the abundance and rich content of the Vefeyât-nâmes describing the important personalities who deceased in this city. Gazzî-zâde Abdüllatîf Efendi, one of the distinguished personalities of Bursa, is the second person who produced the most works after Bursalı İsmail Hakkı with more than forty works he wrote. Gazzî-zâde Abdüllatîf Efendi is the author of Ravzâtü'l-muflihûn and Hulâsatü’l-vefeyât, two of the important works of the “Bursa Vefeyât-nâmeleri” series. Ravzâtü’l-muflihûn is a remarkable work in terms of presenting rich biographical materials about the people it deals with, as well as giving important details about the author's own life together with the people whose biography he tells in the work, and that we come across as both the narrator and one of the subjects of the biography/event in some biographies. In addition to classical sources and academic studies that contain information about Gazzî-zâde’s life, new information that contributes to his biography has been reached through this work. In Ravzâtü’l-muflihûn, which we worked on as a doctoral thesis, new results were obtained in addition to what was previously known about Gazzî-zâde Abdüllatîf Efendi’s own life, the people he introduced, the environment he grew up in, his family, education, teachers, scientific and religious personality. In this article, this new biographical materials will be evaluated.
