Abstract

Humans have relied on tools such as bows, arrows, and spears for survival throughout history. Notably, Native Americans and Turks excelled in utilizing these tools for hunting, warfare, and defense, shaping the course of human civilization. Native American tribes thrived as hunter-gatherers, developing a rich culture in the American continent. Proficient in hunting, they excelled in using bows, arrows, spears, and cutting tools. Bows and arrows remained integral to their way of life until the advent of firearms. Turkish people, like Native American Indian, valued the bow and arrow as a crucial tool for defense and hunting. Turks utilized bows and arrows for hunting, defense, and festival occasions. They adorned various objects with bow and arrow designs as symbols of decoration and sovereignty. Both Native Americans and Turks carried bows and arrows, protecting them in lightweight bags for survival and defense. These bags allowed quick and successive arrow shooting. Warriors and hunters positioned the bow and arrow bags on their side, easily accessible during battles. Technical specifications and inherited knowledge guided the production of these bags, while decorative designs reflected ancestral wisdom in Native American and Turk archery. Native Americans and Turks crafted bows and arrow bags from natural materials like leather and wood. Native Americans adorned their bags with beadwork and paintings, while Turks used velvet, silk, and decorative motifs with precious stones. This article delves into the historical, cultural, and technical aspects of bow and arrow bags in Native American and Turkish cultures.
