Eski Uygurca Kayıt ve Listelerde Yiyecek ve İçecek Adları

Korkut Ata Türkiyat Araştırmaları Dergisi

Abstract

Old Uyghur registers and lists are an inventory of money, goods, products, food and beverage, and donations. Most of the texts, which usually consist of a single fragment, are damaged; however, they are essential in reflecting the rich vocabulary of Old Uyghur Turkish as they contain many words concerning various subjects and personal names. Names of goods, products, taxes, units of measurement and currency, and the terms of food and beverages of the period can be identified from these texts. These texts are also a source of personal names as they contain information about who delivered and received them. The texts reflect daily life regarding all the above-mentioned features and are classified among non-religious texts such as legal documents and letters. This study provides information about the content of the registers and lists being prepared for publication and presents their main features by comparing them with other non-religious texts. Subsequently, as an example, four unpublished texts of registers and lists preserved in Germany were transcribed and translated into Turkey Turkish. The third section was allocated to the names of food and beverages recorded on the registers and lists. The names identified on the subject were listed alphabetically and explained with a text sample.
