Abstract

One of the skills aimed to be acquired by students in language teaching is fluent reading skills. Since fluent reading is associated with comprehension, which is seen as the main purpose of reading education, multidimensional handling of fluent reading skills with academic research will contribute to the development of this skill and other skills related to this skill. In this study, it is aimed to gather and synthesize the studies on fluent reading skills and to evaluate them from a holistic perspective. In line with the purpose of the study, the document analysis method, one of the descriptive research approaches, was used in the examination of theses and articles. According to the year the theses were published, subject area, institute, university, method, keywords and study group, the articles were examined under the same categories outside the institute and tables were created for each finding. The study was limited between 2002-2021, and theses and articles that can be accessed from the Higher Education Institution National Thesis Search Center, Google Scholar and Sobiad sites were included in the study. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. In the research, a total of 266 studies, including 73 theses and 193 articles, were identified between 2002-2021 on fluent reading. Findings were obtained in line with the specified categories and various suggestions were made based on the results obtained.
