Âdem Çelebi Dîvânı’nda Yer Adları

Korkut Ata Türkiyat Araştırmaları Dergisi

Abstract

Âdem Çelebi is a poet who is thought to have lived in Istanbul in the 18th century. It can be estimated from his poems that he was from Istanbul or lived in Istanbul. Âdem Çelebi has a disorganized divan. He has many poems written especially in the ghazal verse form. In addition, he also has poems written in the styles of “kalenderi”, “semai”, “rubai”, “satranç” etc. There are many place names among these poems. While some of these names are used only as metaphors, some are neighborhoods that make us think that the poet lived in Istanbul. The fact that he mentions districts of Istanbul such as “Vefa, Tozkoparan, Silivri, Haramidere, Çekmece” in many of his poems and that he composed one of his poems with the redif “İstanbul” encouraged us to do this study.
The aim of this study is to identify the names of places and spaces in Âdem Çelebi's Divan and to examine the equivalents of these places in divan poetry in terms of similarities or differences.
