Toplumsal Yapı ve Ekmek: Toplum 1.0’dan Toplum 5.0’a Ekmek Çeşitleri

Abstract

Bread has played an important role in social life throughout human history. Across different social structures, bread has existed with its purposes, cooking methods, and associated social, economic, and cultural elements. This study aims to explore the meaningful relationship between social structures and food. It discusses the phenomenon of bread through social structures and food. Bread is a staple food for people of different languages, religions, races, and cultures. While bread is found in every society, its purpose, ingredients, and cooking methods evolve with changes in social structure. The study identifies the types of bread that emerged in different societies through document analysis and establishes a link between social structure and bread. Within this framework, the pairing of social structure and bread is illustrated as flatbread in society 1.0 (hunter-gatherer society), yeast bread in society 2.0 (agricultural society), white bread in society 3.0 (industrial society), wholemeal bread in society 4.0, and purple bread in society 5.0. The study concludes that bread has changed with changes in different social structures, highlighting its dynamic relationship with the social, cultural, and economic elements of society.
